This post is a few weeks late but better late than never, right?
We were very excited about going to Clitheroe because Paul had never been and we were going to be spending the day with Rob and Soph, which is always a bonus and especially on a weekend!
We arrived at 10am and obviously, our first stop was for a coffee at Exchange Coffee. This place is a coffee lover’s dream and you must go if you’re an avid coffee drinker like we are. We all opted for the Hawaiian coffee and paired it with a toasted teacake – now we were ready to go!
If you visit Clitheroe, and like old toys, vinyls and other general collectables, you must pop into The Time Train shop. It’s full of old memorabilia from a range of decades and is just really interesting to look around. I managed to pick up 2 10cc albums on vinyl so I was particularly happy. Clitheroe also has a few nice charity shops and a lovely 2nd hand bookshop called Clitheroe Books.
Now, you may not think that Clitheroe is famous for a castle but the keep of the 12th century castle remains and it offers stunning views of Clitheroe, Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley. Definitely worth the short walk up to it.
For lunch, we went to the chippy and me and Soph both opted for haggis, chips and gravy. Not the healthiest of choices, we know, but it was so tasty and certainly warmed us up! We also had another coffee later on in a cafe called Molly’s. Really nice service and a good cup of java coffee. Perfect!
Our Clitheroe verdict is to definitely visit. It’s really pretty and is just a nice place to walk around (even though we found crossing the roads tricky at times)!
Thanks for reading xx
