Everyday Midtown – Really good coffee. To be honest though, Melbourne is full of amazing coffee shops so you’d struggle to pick a bad one.

Sichuan Hot Pot House – This was brilliant. A hot pot is basically a soup and it’s made with your choice of boiling stock (we opted for chilli) in the middle of the table then you choose your ingredients and cook them yourself in the stock for about 10mins. We loved it!
The Q on Harris – We were very lucky to be staying a 30 second walk from this really good coffee shop! The croissants etc were also good for a 2nd breakfast!
Panthers Penrith – A really cool entertainment complex owned by Penrith Panthers full of places to eat and drink. We opted for the Italian but we forgot to take photos! Oops!
Doyles – We shared fish and chips for lunch at Watsons Bay. You don’t need one each as it’s plenty for 2, especially in the hot weather.

The Pumphouse – They do pizza for $15 all day on a Saturday so we shared one to set us up ready for our flight to Cairns!

Afishionados – A recommendation from our lovely host, Gwen. We had takeaway and ate it on the esplanade. Gorgeous! Paul had crumbed barramundi and I had crumbed scallops and prawns. All delicious!
Capricorn Tavern – Another recommendation from our host because they do a 3 course roast on a Monday night for $12.50 and it is actually really good! It’s more like a carvery really and the meat was divine, as was the apple crumble!!

Maddigans Seafood – Our hosts took us here on our last night in Hervey Bay. You can’t really see the picture because it was dark as we ate it on a picnic blanket on the esplanade at sunset. We had the sweetlip and chips and calamari hand. The calamari was amazing!!
sunshine coast
Cafe Jilarty at Rainbow – Really cool cafe very close to the beach. They do a big range of homemade food ranging from turkish flatbreads to curries. They also have really good backpacker deals on and we were really hungry after swimming in the sea so we both ordered the butter chicken. After that, we had their cold brew coffee which was also really good
Greenout Cafe & Bar – We only wanted a light bite so we ordered a calamari taco and a sangria (as they had an offer on) and it was so good that we ordered another one! It’s a really cool and relaxed place.
