This will only be a quick post but just wanted to fill you in on a couple of places we stopped off at along the coast.
First up was Warrnambool which is a cool place just at the end of The Great Ocean Road. It has a cool beach where you can go and spot whales (unfortunately we didn’t have any luck) and a fab wildlife reserve called Tower Hill where you can spot emus, koalas, kangaroos just roaming (or sleeping) freely. Needless to say, I was extremely excited when I spotted my first koala asleep in the tree. So cute!!
Next up was Mount Gambier which is home to the Blue lake. It’s actually in the bottom of a crater, functions as the town’s water supply, and the colours were amazing! We also visited a sink hole, which has been turned into a garden. Unfortunately we saw no possums, which are known to hang out there, but we did see a bright red parrot!
Our night’s accommodation was in the Old Mount Gambier Gaol. The cells have been converted into rooms and nicely furnished. It was scary at first but the Gaol is only 150 years old. I’m glad Paul didn’t tell me that the placard outside our room said it was thought to have an unmarked grave behind it! Definitely a quirky place to stay and one of only 15 converted jails in the world that you can sleep in without getting nicked.
Overall another great leg of the trip! Onwards to Victor Harbor.
Fab. Keep going. Love to you both.
