All Summer Long

We’ve been back for 3 weeks now and we can’t quite believe it!

It has gone so fast but we can honestly say we are so happy because we have had the best time!! We feel very lucky that we have been able to spend the first 5 months of married life experiencing wonderful parts of the world together.

Our Mike picked us up from the airport which was just the best! Those of you who know Mike, know how his smile lights up a room so to have him be the first person to greet us was just the best welcome home present ever! I teared up, obviously ?

It goes without saying that we missed our parents and Cody and seeing them for *that hug* exceeded all expectations!! We had a fab get together in the evening and it was like we had never been away, apart from the fact that we were suffering from severe jet lag and didn’t know what day or time it was!!

A couple of questions we’ve been asked since being back are, “Where was your favourite place?” and “Are you really sad to be home?”

Let’s start with the first question, “Where was your favourite place?” It may sound like a cliche but it really is too difficult to say where our favourite place was. To put it in a nutshell, we have driven along the Californian Coast singing the Beach Boys; rubbed shoulders with hobbits in Hobbiton; seen koalas and kanagaroos in the wild and caught up with a close friend; been to the top of a mega swish hotel which is shaped like a ship at the top; walked up a lot steps surrounded by monkeys to reach a cave; learned to cook Thai food as well as how to eat it; watched a stunning sunrise at Angkor Wat; had some of the best coffee in the world; ate in numerous Michelin Starred restaurants (for cheap); cruised along on bullet trains and met Chip ‘n’ Dale the Rescue Rangers! These things don’t even scratch the surface of what we’ve seen and done so I hope you read it and understand that it really is just too difficult to say where our favourite place was as each one has given us new experiences and memories to treasure forever.

The next question, “Are you really sad to be home?” The answer to this is simply, no. Yes, we LOVE travelling and losing ourselves in different countries but we are so excited about our lives together as a married couple that for us it’s just the next stage. Who knows what the future will bring and where we will end up next 😀

But in the mean time, we will be enjoying the love from our family and friends and catching up on all the goss!! We’ve missed you all!!

PS. We are going to be writing various posts on Japan but they are still in progress! It’s too cool a country to rush writing about!!
